Ambassador Tuba Nur Sönmez was born in Ankara. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She completed her master courses in the European Studies at the Istanbul Bilgi University and in the Cultural Anthropology program of the Ankara Hacı Bayramı Veli University.

Ambassador Sönmez worked in the SETA (Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research) in the field of foreign policy.

She took charge at the Civil Society Forum of the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries that was held in Türkiye in 2011. She worked in media sector for a while and took active role in civil society initiatives. Subsequently, she was employed as advisor in the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Chairmanship of Foreign Affairs, and then as a Minister Advisor at the Ministry of European Union Affairs.

From 2014 until she was appointed as Ambassador in 2022, Ambassador Sönmez served as the President's Advisor in the fields of foreign policy and public diplomacy. She also served as the Rapporteur of the Security and Foreign Polices Council of The Presidency. Meanwhile, she performed as the African Culture House Project Coordinator.

Ambassador Tuba Nur Sönmez who has successfully represented Türkiye in various international forums and meetings, speaks English, Arabic, Persian and Malay.
