August 30th Victory Day Recetion of the Republic of Türkiye
Esteemed General Mohammad Al-Anezy,
Excellencies,
Fellow Ambassadors,
Distinguished Military Attachés,
Members of the DiplomaticCorps,
Ladies and Gentlemen.
Assalamu Aleykum,
I will begin my words by thankingeach one of you for being here with us today to share our joy and pride on theVictory Day of the Republic of Türkiye.
We are celebrating the100thanniversary of a great victory, which is one of the cornerstones ofour centuries-old history.
Today’s activity is also myfirst diplomatic reception that I am hosting since assuming my post in Kuwait. So, it is important for me personally, too.
Alhamdulillah, the relations betweenTürkiye and Kuwait have reached an “exemplary” level and continue to growstronger under the guidance of His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğanand His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf.
On the other hand, there is still a widecooperation potential ahead of us. Therefore, as the new Turkish ambassador inKuwait, I will be trying hard to deepen our relations with Kuwait in everyfield.
Dear guests,
August 30th isone of our history’s most critical milestones when our nation thwarted thehopes of imperialist intentions on its existence, and laid the groundwork forthe foundation of our Republic.
The spirit, faith andwill, which inspired the great victory 100 years ago, guide our nation today, too.
The most importantmanifestations of this are our achievements in the areas from defense industry, economy and foreign policy to energy, and our fight against DAESH, PKK/PYD/YPG,FETO and all the other terrorist organizationsthat threaten our country’sunity and integrity.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Victories in war are wonwith military force, which depends on defense industry, especially in today’smodern world. In light of this fact, we are proud that Türkiye has achievedself-sufficiency in defense industry products by 70%. We have currently sevendefense companies among 100 biggest companies in the world.
We believe that theestablishment of peace, security, stability and welfare in our region andbeyond depends on the creation of a fair balance in defense industry. The morewe develop our national defense capacity, the more we contribute to theregional and global peace. Indeed, Türkiye acts in a spirit of building a zoneof peace and cooperation and developing good-neighborly relations in itsenvironment. As President Erdoğan always underlines, there is no winnerin a war and no loser in a just peace. Therefore, we have maintained ourefforts and ensured the implementation of the grain corridor agreement. We havethereby contributed to the global supply security in a period of imminent foodcrisis.
Today, our country hasbecome a hope for not only its 85 million citizens living inside its borders, but also for its millions of friends, brothers and sisters living in differentparts of the world.
We owe a debt of gratitudeto all heroes of our War of Independence, first and foremost Ghazi MustafaKemal Atatürk, and gallant soldiers of our military.
Speaking of military, letus watch a short video-clip about the Turkish Armed Forces, as visuals are morepowerful than words.
Distinguished guests,
Now, I would like to read the message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on theoccasion of the Victory Day:“Today, we are living the rightful pride of reaching the100thanniversary of the Great Victory.
I congratulate ourbrothers and sisters in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and allof our citizens living all across the world on August 30 Victory Day.
I thank on my behalf ofmyself, my country and nation all of our friends who share our joy of festival.
Our nation, whose historyis full of glorious victories, ended the liberation struggle, which it wageddespite every kind of poverty and deprivation, with a clear and undisputablevictory on August 30, 1922.
It was once againregistered with the Great Victory that the lands on which we today live freelyare our eternal homeland.
The August 30 serves asthe clearest evidence of what the Turkish nation can achieve and what it cansacrifice when forced to choose between slavery and liberty.
Instead of staying underthe yoke of the enemy even for a single day, our nation walked to the martyrdomwith a bravery that scared the death itself, and defended its freedom andfuture.
Lastly, the incidents thattook place on the night of July 15 have once again shown that the unwavering willthat inspired the Great Offensive is still alive in hearts.
With the strength it drawsfrom its history, Türkiye determinedly advances on the path to building abright and prosperous future for itself.
Our country, which hassuccessfully managed the coronavirus pandemic that has deeply shaken the entirehumanity, is now taking steps to turn the global economic crisis into anopportunity as well.
Türkiye takes the place itdeserves in the new world system with its growing production capacity, its exportsthat break new records every month and the projects it implements in defenseindustry as well as the responsibilities it assumes in the solution of regionalproblems.
The year 2023, when wewill be celebrating the 100thyear of our Republic, will inshallah mark anew milestone at which we give the good news about building the great andpowerful Türkiye.
With these thoughts in mymind, I remember with gratitude Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, who is the founder of ourRepublic and the Commander-in-Chief of the Great Offensive, and hiscomrades-in-arms.
I wish Allah’s mercy uponour august martyrs, who breathed their last for the sake of our homeland as ifhey had been stepping into a rosary, and remember with gratitude our ghazis.
May our martyrs rest inpeace.
Happy Victory Day.”
